I opened Maxine's Gifts in June of 2002 in the lobby of the Sky Light Theater in Hood River Oregon. I still can vividly recall the mixed fragrance of Pacifica Candles, popcorn and pizza.   Since then I have moved the store up the street to a brighter and much larger space. In addition to owner Maureen Donald, Maxine's Gifts now has two fantastic sales associates, Rachel and Amy (whoowee!) We have expanded our inventory to include dozens of high quality gift items including Slap Watches, PeaceLoveMom T-Shirts and Hats, Beau Bain Bath Bombs, Asquith Somerset Exfoliating Massage Soaps, Greenscape Skin Care products, Northern Lights Drip-less taper candles and tea lights, and Pacific Bath Salts. I also carry a huge selection of Gift Cards, Wine Connoisseur items, and other high quality gifts, novelties and accessories. I’m not one to sell items that I don’t use myself or believe-in. All my vendors are trusted partners. I stand behind their products and they inturn stand behind me. It’s a good deal for everyone and works well. I am a retletively small company that relies on repeat customers and word of mouth advertising. This makes Maxine's Gifts a very customer-oriented company.

In addition to my loyal customers from the Hood River, and Portland communities, my store is blessed with hundreds of visitors drawn to the area for it’s myriad of recreational opportunities. Wind Surfers, Kite Boarders, Cyclists, Kayakers, Steel Head and Salmon Fisherman, Skiers, Snowboarders, Hikers, and other outdoor enthusiasts for a while each year, make our little town, their own. Over the years many of these visitors have become my extended family of friends. When they are not in the area many will order on the website or by phone and catch-up on the local news. Now with Face Book and Twitter, it is much easier for all of us to stay in touch with one another. Pacifica Gifts has grown to a large extent by word of mouth, friends, telling friends. It's pretty cool, I sell affordable, quality gifts to an every-growing  clientle and internet community of nice people. I love my job and I treat customers as honored guests in my store. They inturn, reward me with loyalty and respect. This simple business model works well for all of us.
